MOHAWK CONTINUES TO USE NEW TECHNOLOGIES TO EXPAND REACH IN CERAMIC TILE
MARKET

ALTON,
Ga. Dec. 1, 2011—
Mohawk continues to employ new technologies to further expand its reach
in the ceramic tile market. In an effort to broaden its product
offering, Mohawk introduces
Persico, a new glazed porcelain collection that features both Reveal
Imaging™ and Microban® technologies. Persico offers consumers a unique
rustic stone visual and is available in rich color palette of beige,
gray and noce.
“Persico is a fashionable product with a lot of design flexibility,”
said Roger Farabee, senior vice president of marketing, hard surfaces at
Mohawk. “Our retailers have had great success selling tile products that
utilize Reveal Imaging technology. Persico just further completes the
Reveal Imaging product offering, and it does it a strong price point.”
Mohawk pioneered Reveal Imagining technology in 2009, which is one of
the most sophisticated design application processes in the ceramic tile
segment. It provides wide pattern variation, unmatched color definition
and detailed veining for a one-of-a-kind realism that captures all of
the facets and shading of natural slate and travertine. Persico offers
all of the beauty of natural slate without the added maintenance of
porous stone, which is just one of many advantages to a tile product
equipped with Reveal Imaging.
Keeping with the spirit of innovation, Mohawk has also included Microban
antimicrobial product protection on the Persico product offering.
Microban fights the growth of stain causing bacteria, mold and mildew.
Mohawk infuses the Microban technology into the ceramic tile glaze
during the manufacturing process, and as a result, it never washes off
or wears away over time. With Microban, consumers receive an additional
layer of durable, long-lasting protection on their tile floors.
Persico is the latest addition to Mohawk’s assortment of ceramic tile
products made in America. It will be available in four modular field
tile sizes that offer interesting design potential: 13” X 13”, 20” X
20”, and 3” X 3”, as well as a decorative universal border.
