MOHAWK LAMINATES EARN NALFA CERTIFICATION

DALTON (July 18, 2007)—Mohawk laminates have been certified by the North American Laminate Flooring Association (NALFA).  The certification covers all Unilin-manufactured products in Mohawk’s laminate line.

NALFA was formed by U.S. and Canadian laminate manufacturers and importers in 1997, with the primary purpose of establishing voluntary performance standards for laminate flooring.  To earn NALFA certification, a laminate flooring product must pass a rigorous and demanding series of tests designed to evaluate its performance, durability, strength, and overall quality. Reputable manufacturers understand the value of the certification seal to the consumer, and aggressively seek NALFA certification for their products.

“This is an important step forward for our new laminates,” said Lindsey Ann Waldrep, Brand Manager, Wood & Laminates for Mohawk.  “Mohawk strongly supports NALFA, and certification helps support the quality and value we keep building for the Mohawk brand.  We are very pleased that this certification covers products in our line ranging from the most innovative new styles down to value leaders.”

Last year, Mohawk began a four-phase upgrade of its laminate line, introducing new products across the spectrum of price points.  Styles include hand-scraped wood looks, real stone, ceramic, and concrete with individual tiles embossed and varied to best resemble realistic patterns.  The Wall Street Journal recently noted that Mohawk’s tile styles looked the “most realistic” of all products evaluated in its review of laminates.

Mohawk laminate products contain a denser core, making them less prone to denting, nicking, and stains than other types of flooring.  Mohawk’s core technology also provides superior moisture resistance.  Produced with an aluminum oxide top coat to protect against everyday wear, Mohawk laminate is more durable than wood and can withstand extremes such as cigarette burns and household chemical spills. Laminate also offers a softer feel under foot than ceramic.

Mohawk laminates offer simple installation with its InstaClic® glueless system, considered the best in the industry. This patented method allows for fast, easy angled or sliding installation. Even when the space is tight, InstaClic will ensure a secure locking action. Also available is a complete line of moldings featuring quarterround, stairnosing, and InstaformTM, a unique 3-in-1 molding system. Mohawk also offers a bull nose molding for tile varieties.
