MOHAWK MAKES LASTING INVESTMENT IN NASHVILLE
NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION AS PART OF SOLUTIONS 2012
DALTON, Ga. Dec. 1, 2011—
Mohawk is committed to building a more sustainable world one community
at a time, and it’s a message the company is communicating to its
aligned retailers at the Solutions 2012 convention in Nashville, Tenn.
In an effort to educate by example, Mohawk has partnered with Monroe
Harding, Inc., a local Nashville non-profit organization helping at-risk
children, youth and families find their path to success and
self-sufficiency.
Monroe Harding was founded as an orphanage in 1893. The organization has
evolved over the course of time, and today, its main purpose is to
provide a home for children and youth who do not have parents or whose
parents cannot provide for them. In addition to residential services,
Monroe Harding offers educational training, vocational programs, life
skills, and most importantly, the support of a loving, caring adult.
“Mohawk deeply believes the communities it touches are an extension of
the company,” said Jenny Nichols, director of retail marketing at
Mohawk. “We’ve spent a lot of time talking about Nashville, as we
planned and prepared for the Solutions 2012 convention. It was important
to us to do something that would make a lasting impact on the greater
Nashville community. The Monroe Harding family is amazing, and we are
honored that we can help further their mission.”
Like many non-profit organizations weathering the current economic
climate, budgets remain tight. This has made it difficult for Monroe
Harding to proceed with needed youth housing renovations. Mohawk has
agreed to donate various flooring products that will now make many of
these improvements possible.
“One of the many miracles we see is new light in the eyes of the young
people we serve as they experience success in school, social settings,
or job hunting. Walking into a newly carpeted cottage lit that
light for eight of our teens. Mohawk’s gift of carpeting for the
cottage and various rooms and offices on our two campuses is much
appreciated!” stated Mary N.
Baker, President/CEO of Monroe Harding, Inc. in response to Mohawk’s
donation.
“Sustainability
is about so much more than developing greener products and processes,”
added Nichols. “True sustainability is measured by how much a company
cares about the people it touches. We strive to be that type of company,
as do our aligned retailers. You can look for Mohawk to continue forming
these vital partnerships in the future.”
