ADDS FOUR HAND-SCRAPED FINISH SKUS

New Products Expand High-Style Hemispheres Collection

DALTON (July 23, 2007)—Mohawk is expanding its high-style Hemispheres Laminate Collection with four new additions to its Maison product.  The new SKUs will feature a hand-scraped finish in oak and pecan.  In addition, the new styles have a pillowed edge with deeper tones to emphasize the plank.

“Maison has a true hand-scraped look, rather than a soft scraped finish,” said Lindsey Ann Waldep, Brand Manager, Wood and Laminates.  It is rustic and realistic, and provides designers and consumers with the most stylish option in laminate.”

Maison also offers three French Oak colors featuring a unique cowtail visual and three soft scraped Ash colors in a 6” plank.  It has a 9.5 mm thickness, and is register embossed with beveled edges.  The aluminum oxide finish has a 25 year residential warranty and a five year commercial warranty.

Mohawk offers simple installation with its InstaClic^® glueless system. This patented method allows for fast, easy angled or sliding installation. Even when the space is tight, InstaClic will ensure a secure locking action. Also available is a complete line of moldings featuring quarterround, stairnosing, and Instaform^TM, a unique 3-in-1 molding system. Mohawk also offers a bull nose molding for tile varieties.

Mohawk laminate products also contain a denser core, making them less prone to denting, nicking, and stains than other types of flooring. A denser core also provides greater resistance to swelling from liquid, minimizing expansion between boards. Produced with an aluminum oxide top coat to protect the flooring from the everyday wear of pets and foot traffic, Mohawk laminate is more durable than wood and can withstand extremes such as cigarette burns and household chemical spills. And laminate has a softer feel under foot than ceramic.

Underlayments that serve as sound and moisture barriers are also available. Mohawk SilentGUARD underlayments decrease sound within a particular room and  Mohawk MoistureGUARD underlayments decrease sound from traveling to rooms below. Both also serve as a moisture barrier between the subfloor and the laminate.
